Atrial Fibrillation, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases | Wearable Monitoring and Early Warning Indicators

1. Risk Monitoring Indicators for Early Warning via Smart Bracelet

Monitoring Item Normal Healthy State Abnormal Risk Manifestations Corresponding Disease Risks
Resting Heart Rate 55~75 beats/min Long-term resting heart rate >85 beats/min;
Abrupt irregular changes in short periods
Atrial fibrillation, hypertensive heart disease,
myocardial ischemia
RR Interval (RRI) Uniform and orderly heartbeat intervals Disordered and irregular RR intervals,
no periodicity at all
Highly suspected atrial fibrillation
HRV (SDNN/RMSSD) SDNN>50ms, RMSSD>20ms Long-term continuous low levels: SDNN<30ms,
RMSSD<10ms
Autonomic nerve degeneration, arteriosclerosis,
high risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
Blood Pressure <139/89mmHg Repeated readings ≥140/90mmHg,
excessively large/small pulse pressure difference
Hypertension, coronary heart disease,
inducers of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage
Nighttime Sleep Heart Rate 10~20 beats lower than daytime
during sleep
Persistently high nighttime heart rate,
no downward trend
High cardiac function load,
tendency of early heart failure
Blood Oxygen (SpO₂) ≥95% Long-term resting level <93%,
frequent drops at night
Insufficient cardiopulmonary oxygen supply, heart failure,
atrial fibrillation induced by sleep apnea

2. Danger Signals of Multiple Abnormal Indicators

  • 1. Irregular heart rate + disordered RR intervals → Prioritize screening for atrial fibrillation
  • 2. Long-term hypertension + persistently low HRV → High incidence of arteriosclerosis and cerebral infarction
  • 3. Persistently high resting heart rate + low nighttime blood oxygen → Myocardial ischemia and cardiac function damage

3. Comprehensive Prevention Plan for Cardiovascular, Cerebrovascular and Atrial Fibrillation

1. Diet Control

  • Low salt: Daily salt intake <5g, reduce pickled products and marinated foods to control hypertension
  • Low fat: Reduce intake of fatty meat, animal offal and fried foods to prevent vascular atherosclerosis
  • Consume more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and deep-sea fish to supplement potassium for myocardial protection

2. Work Rest and Sleep

  • 7~8 hours of sleep per day, avoid staying up late (staying up late directly lowers HRV and induces arrhythmia)
  • Seek medical attention promptly for severe snoring and sharp drops in nighttime blood oxygen; sleep apnea easily induces paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

3. Regular Exercise

  • Healthy adults: ≥150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise such as brisk walking, jogging and tai chi per week
  • Hypertension/elderly: Avoid strenuous sprinting and weight-bearing breath-holding exercises

4. Quit High-Risk Habits

  • Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake; tobacco and alcohol damage the myocardium, increase blood pressure and significantly raise the probability of atrial fibrillation
  • Reduce strong tea and coffee to avoid sympathetic excitement and tachycardia

5. Regular Monitoring

  • Measure HRV, resting heart rate and blood pressure while lying down in the morning every day, and record the long-term change trend
  • If multiple indicators are abnormal for a consecutive week, go to the hospital for electrocardiogram, blood lipid and cardiac color Doppler ultrasound examinations
Important Notes:
1. PPG photoelectric data from wearable devices is only for risk screening and early warning, and cannot diagnose heart disease or atrial fibrillation;
2. Seek medical attention immediately if accompanied by chest tightness, palpitations, dizziness or amaurosis fugax;
3. Three highs (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes) are the number one high-risk inducers of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular diseases and atrial fibrillation, which should be controlled first.
